Failure to appear for your appointed court date is a huge blow to your case and will get you thrown back in jail. To get out of jail while you are awaiting your day in court, you will need to produce the amount of the bail that a judge has set you. If you are unable to pay the bond amount, you should look for a bail bondsman to help you. Bail bondsman have more financing options and will make it easier for you to receive an affordable bond. But if you’re thinking about skipping town as soon as you get out of jail, you might want to reconsider. Not only is this going to land you in more hot water, it’s going to mean that you forfeit the money that you have already paid for bail that otherwise would have been refunded to you following your court date.
If you feel that you can’t make your court date, you need to communicate with your parole officer and the courts, as well as your attorney and bondsman, in order to ensure that your reason for missing court is acceptable and to find out your options if not.
